Abbey Platinum is proudly part of the Alberta New Home Warranty Program, which offers the 1-2-5-10 warranty and covers the following:
- 1 Year – Materials & Labour (nail pops in drywall, flooring, baseboards, etc.)
- 2 Years – Delivery & Distribution systems (heating, electrical and plumbing)
- 5 Years – Building Envelope (siding, roof shingles, exterior walls)
- 10 Years – Structural (the foundation and framing)

Does Abbey Platinum do renovations?
Yes, we absolutely do
home renovations! In fact, we are two-time winners of the Renovators of the Year from BILD Central Alberta. Whether it’s a kitchen makeover, building an addition or doing a total interior/exterior overhaul, we can help.
Where is Abbey Platinum located?
Our
home office is located in Red Deer, and we build custom homes anywhere in the Central Alberta communities of Sylvan Lake, Lacombe, Penhold, Blackfalds and, of course, Red Deer.
What is a Quick Possession home?
Quick possession homes are newly ready-built homes constructed by Abbey Platinum Master Built. Designed and built in varying sizes, styles and communities, these ready-built homes are not pre-sold. Quick Possession homes are an excellent consideration for those looking to purchase a new home, especially when time is of the essence.
Once construction is completed, quick-possession homes are
immediately available for the buyer to move into.
What amenities do quick possession homes offer?
All Abbey Platinum Master Built homes are built to an impressive standard. As energy savings due to energy-efficient materials and delivery systems are always evolving, so are the standards of our builds.
At a glance, the high-efficiency materials we build with are triple-pane windows, high-efficiency furnaces and water tanks, and HVAC & delivery systems. Air conditioning can always be installed post-occupancy, but the windows are so effective at maintaining the house’s temperature that air conditioning may not be necessary.
In the kitchen, we use name-brand appliances with fantastic warranties for the fridge, stove, dishwasher, microwave & hood fan. Best of all, our quick-possession homes are built with a back deck installed!
Which is better for first-time buyers: a bungalow or a two-storey?
It might be a surprise, but bungalows are the most expensive houses to build per square foot. Bungalows are wider than most 2-storey homes because they are typically open-concept, single-level homes with all the rooms and amenities on the main floor. The large foundation, broad roof and larger-than-average lot size are all factors that impact the cost of the home.
When affordability is a factor, we highly recommend a two-storey home for first-time buyers, as they provide the best value. Building
up rather than
out will always be more cost-effective because land is limited, but airspace above the home isn’t!
What type of flooring do we use?
We use a variety of high-quality flooring products. A favourite on the main floor is a luxury vinyl plank flooring that is easy to clean and high-wear. The “LVP” we use is available in a wide variety of colours and textures, often with a realistic wood finish.
There are several ranges of price points that make LVP acceptable, from entry-level homes to the high-end acreages we build. A popular configuration would have the main floor and bathrooms in LVP, while the stairs and bedrooms have carpet.
What do I communicate to my builders?
Our team works hard to build trust with our clients so you can feel comfortable being candid and open with your ideas. Creating an accurate list of your needs, wants, and dream features is essential for first-time buyers. The more information you can provide the builder, the closer to your ideal vision we can get.
