What’s Covered?
Alberta introduced the New Home Buyer Protection Act (NHBPA) in 2014 in order to ensure that all homebuyers receive warranty protection and protection from unexpected issues. Under the act, all homes built after February 1, 2014, must provide “1-2-5-10” coverage.” 1-2-5-10 coverage entails; warranty coverage of one year for labour and materials, two years for delivery and distribution systems, five years for building envelope protection and ten years for major structural components.
